“Open-ended play” is when the contradiction between what you want to do and what you are able to do is done away with. The initiation into the realm of play becomes a conscious choice by the child. The process of play becomes imaginative with unique ways of use of play tools; the result being happiness, self-confidence and satisfaction.
Ideation for "design for open-ended play".
Teepee; an ensemble of a play mat and macrame attachments that can be combined to make three different arrangements as per the need and wishes of the child. Following the principles of Open-ended play, Teepee creates the ideal playscape for the child to create her own world of play. A canopy , a swing and a play mat; it transforms to cater to the increased mental and physical activities of a young being. The use of natural materials and earthy shades keeps her close to nature.
An empty canvas, Teepee is my endeavor to create a possibility of play that is not colored or does not cast a shadow of existing stereotypes around the realm of play.
A simple product design project.
An anchor plate set up is provided along with the set. This metallic anchor plate is meant to be ceiling mounted indoors to make hanging the canopy and swing possible.
The set up is easy to dismantle and is stackable.
